IT IS TIME FOR

CHANGE IN THE JUNCTION

I’m Mal Osborne-Smith, your independent candidate for Junction Ward.
I’m standing because I want to get on with reinvigorating Camberwell Junction.

The Junction is tired. It’s functional but not fun. It’s lost its soul. We have been planning for decades but too little has been done. Now State Government is demanding more houses in our Junction and proposing changes to planning laws to achieve this.

We need to strongly resist overreaching targets by State Government for housing that will threaten our heritage homes and streetscapes forever. We need to demand our fair share of funding from State and Federal Governments for infrastructure required.

And at Council level we need to get on with improvements to the Junction - to prepare for its future whilst paying respect to its rich past.  We can make the Junction world class – a vibrant retail precinct, with successful businesses, connected by public parks and lanes, quality residences, set in an urban environment that invites and inspires. There are opportunities everywhere – new pocket parks, busker spots, enlivened laneways, closed off roads, public art, fairy lights, a Christmas night market, bluestone footpaths, heritage lights, commuter car parking, and safe tram stops and bike lanes.

It’s time to reinvigorate the Junction. It's time for action.
